Webinar: India's democracy
Datum: 17-09-2020Tijd: 18:00 - 20:00Locatie: online
We cordially invite you to participate
in a virtual meeting focusing on the present dire situation in
Indian-Administered Kashmir. We intend to raise awareness of the India/ Kashmir crisis
at the highest level possible, but also to provide answers to gripping
questions and join the dots in presenting the matrix of consistent and
compelling arguments regarding the future of Jammu and India/Kashmir.
As you may be aware, the Indian government’s
suppression of Art. 370 of the Indian Constitution together with the adoption
of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, are merely stages in a process
whereby the people of India/Kashmir are being systematically stripped of their basic
human rights. The massive military presence has created an environment in which
arbitrary arrest, use of excessive force, restrictions on freedom of expression
have all become the norm rather than the exception. These and other constraints
on the free flow of information have become especially important during the
current COVID-19 pandemic.
The webinar intends to bring together
policymakers, political activists, intellectuals, and interest group
representatives and will provide ample opportunity for debate, dialogue and
exchanges of ideas. The meeting will be held in English. As the space is
limited, it is best to register as soon as possible right
here!
