Datum: 04-06-2020Tijd: 15:00 - 16:00Locatie: onlineThe United Nations anticipated that 2020 would be a ground-breaking year for gender equality. Instead, due to the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, even the limited gains made in the past decades have been put at risk of being reversed. Disease outbreaks have affected women and men differently, with pandemics especially exacerbating gender inequalities for girls and women. From the effects of school closures to the challenges in accessing sexual and reproductive health services, the upcoming Africa Dialogues webinar will focus on the gendered impacts of COVID-19 and what is being done to ensure that women and girls aren’t being left behind.
On 4 June 2020, Dalberg Advisors and Amref Health Africa will host Angela Muriithi (Country Director of Plan International Zimbabwe), Dr. Boluwatife Oluwafunmilola Lola-Dare (President of CHESTRAD Global), and Scheaffer Okore (freelance development strategic advisor). Topics covered will include: challenges that the pandemic presents to health policy on gender, government engagement and advocacy around gender inclusion, gender markers for programme planning and implementation, and areas needing critical attention to ensure minimal disruption of services.
