About Both ENDS
Both ENDS is an environmental and human rights organization with approximately 40 employees. We work internationally with civil society organizations on the themes of climate, sustainable land and water use and gender equality. We often focus on the global role of Dutch trade, money and (political) influence. We share knowledge with and raise money for hundreds of partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We engage in joint advocacy to influence policy and initiate dialogue between partners and policymakers.
We are funded by private foundations and government organizations. We do most of our fundraising together with partners from our extensive network in the South.
Fundraising activities are managed by the senior Fundraising & Acquisition expert. You have a colleague who you work together with directly.
What are you going to do?
As Head of Fundraising & Acquisition, you are ultimately responsible for organizing and managing the fundraising process in the organization and maintaining relationships with donors, including:
- Developing, implementing and ensuring the quality of Both ENDS’ fundraising strategy and annual plans.
- Identifying potential new donors and building new relationships, with the aim of developing a broad donor portfolio for Both ENDS.
- Actively maintaining relationships with funds and donors, and creatively putting Both ENDS on the map and positioning the organisation in donor networks.
- Stimulating and coaching colleagues in fundraising and acquisition.
- Representing the organization at external events and meetings(e.g. at donor network meetings).
- Coordinating and monitoring the quality of proposals that are developed. You contribute where necessary and analyze anyrejected proposals or missed opportunities.
Your profile
You are a critically-positive, creative go-getter with an academic level of working and thinking. You are able to communicate clearly and convincingly towards financiers. You are an effective networker with at least 5 years of experience in the field and are adept at building a wide range of donor relationships, including institutional and private donors and government.
In addition:
- You have a proven track record/knowledge of the philanthropy sector and the work of social organizations in and outside the Netherlands.
- You know what a high-quality fundraising proposal should look like. You can coach others on this and you posses excellent writing skills to write yourself when necessary.
- You see opportunities and you are an enterprising self-starter: someone who can design and lead the contours of a new project 'from scratch', in collaboration with relevant colleagues and partners.
- You have full professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Dutch at minimum B1. Other language skills (Spanish, Portuguese or French) are a plus.
- You have demonstrable experience with coordinating roles, you are self-reflective and you are willing to pro-actively participate in the open feedback culture of our horizontal organization.
- You are enthusiastic about Both ENDS ' themes and working methods.
- You work systematically and creatively.
- You are results-oriented, persistent, accurate, stress-resistant and a flexible team player.
Both ENDS offers
- An internationally oriented, dynamic and informal working environment in Utrecht.
- A gross salary of €3,693 to € 5,497 based on full-time employment (38 hours), depending on education and experience.
- A 12-month contract for 32 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.
- Excellent secondary employment conditions including: a non-contributory pension, monthly mobile telephone and work from home allowance, full travel allowance.
