Date: 14-10-2024Time: 13.30 - 18.00 hrsLocation: Atria, AmsterdamINVITATION
On
Monday afternoon, 14 October, we will organise an annual kick-off
meeting in preparation for the upcoming women's summit in New York: the
UN Commission on the Status of Women.
This coming year is a
special year. The agreements made between governments in 1995 in
Beijing, at the Fourth World Conference on Women, still signify the key
shared agenda to achieve gender equality and women's rights. These are
called the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, or Beijing
agenda in short. In 2025, UN Member States will celebarate achievements
of these past 30 years and recommit to further this agenda.
Language: This meeting will take place largely in Dutch, with English interpretation provided for participants.

Additional information
During
this kick-off event, we will reflect on Beijing experiences from 30
years ago - as many of us were not there or weren't even alive yet at
that time. Why is this Beijing agenda still so special?
Dutch
delegates from the Ministry of Education, Cultura and Science (OCW) and
Foreign Affairs (BZ), will be present to share updates and join a
dialogue with civil society about how we can most effectively
collaborate to strengthen gender equality and women's rights in the
upcoming CSW and Beijing processes.
Considering
the new cabinet and current reality and developments in the Netherlands
and abroad, what are our priorities as women's movements, feminist
movements, civil society in the Netherlands? Where do our priorities
align and how can we strategize and collaborate? And how can we support
each other and show up in solidarity where needed?
The
kick-off will be a good opportunity to learn, share, strategize and
network in formal (programmed) and informal (networking drinks)
settings.
