In 2025 we will commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most comprehensive agenda in the field of gender equality and women's rights!
In 1995, 17,000 delegates and 30,000 activists from around the world descended on Beijing to attend the Fourth World Conference on Women. This was one of the largest meetings to promote women's rights ever held.
The Beijing agenda includes the following 12 points:
Women & poverty
Education & training of women
Women & health
Violence against women
Women & armed conflict
Women & the economy
Women in power & decision making
Institutional mechanisms for the promotion of women
Women's human rights
Women & the media
Women & the environment
Girls
Despite some progress, real change has been slow and no country has yet achieved gender equality. WO=MEN, on behalf of and in collaboration with its members, is committed to women's rights and gender equality in international processes such as Beijing+30.
