Situation of women and girls in the asylum chain must improve

The members of WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform, including refugee women's organisations, are very concerned about the lack of safe shelter for women and girls. Due to large fluctuations in personnel and finances, as well as a lack of clear guidelines for implementing organisations, COA staff do not pay enough attention to (safeguarding of) nor do they have the knowledge and skills to offer women and girls safety in asylum reception. Instead of focusing on the de-escalation of violent incidents, much more focus is needed on the prevention of violence in the AZCs. The members and organisations wrote this in a letter yesterday to the Committee Justice and Security of the Lower House.
