The World Cup as a tipping point for gender equality?

25-06-2019
While women's rights are coming under increasing pressure worldwide, the opposite seems to be true in the field of women's football. There is plenty of attention for the World Cup (f) and records are being broken left and right. For example, football country Brazil for the first time broadcast the women's matches at the World Cup live and also in progressive Europe - where women's football lagged slightly behind - viewing figures were broken. Never before have more people watched their women's teams at the World Cup in France, the United Kingdom, and in the Netherlands. And then the real finals are yet to come. After the European Championship won two years ago, the Orange Lionesses have conquered our hearts and since then almost all matches of the Orange ladies have been almost invariably sold out, even if they are played in France.
