Around the world, LGBTQIA+ and gender-non conforming individuals experience barriers to participating in sport as a direct result of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. This is often experienced on multiple levels; from individual harassment on the pitch to widespread discrimination from institutions and governing bodies.
The ONSIDE Fund supports a global portfolio of groups working with LGBTQIA+ communities. Through their work and activism, these groups seek to confront stereotypes, increase visibility and actively promote the rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
This episode of ‘We Are ONSIDE’ aims to amplify the voices of these groups, raising awareness of the challenges they face and further exploring how sport can be used as a tool of inclusion and advocacy.
