The outdoor photo exhibition Men and Love in Times of Conflict and Polarisation is co-organized by PAX and WILPF, as part of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence (orange the world). Following the official opening, PAX and WILPF will host a discussion session from 15.30 until 17.00.
Now more than ever, it’s important to explore the relationships between men, masculinities, conflict, care, and love. We hope the exhibition challenges stereotypes of men as inevitably aggressive, stoic, sexist, glorifying arms and as active supporters of war. These dominant ideas of manhood cause men to harm themselves and others. But more and more men have started breaking open the typical man-box and are redefining themselves and their relationships with others.
We hope these images offer a more nuanced portrayal of men as joyful and warm, caring and compassionate, loving and vulnerable, committed to peace and our planet, and ardent supporters of everyone’s ability to access all of their rights.
Join us in finding ways to increase men’s support for inclusive peace!
