The online dialogue will focus on exchanges between migrant women leaders and staff members at private foundations. Given the bureaucratic nature of the EU, private foundations could be a model for public bodies on how to support grassroots organisations and networks.
Objectives of the dialogue:
• Create a direct exchange space between migrant women organisations and grantmakers
• Learn from fundraising challenges and strategies of migrant women organisations
• Understand the funding landscape for migrant-related projects in Europe
• Discuss new funding and support models that can sustain migrant women activism
About the organizer:
WIDE+ migration and gender working group is organising a dialogue session between representatives of foundations and migrant women-led groups to explore what kind of hurdles and solutions exist for migrant women groups in Europe when it comes to resourcing migrant women movements.
Recently, WIDE+ conducted a review of EU funds channeled to migrant women-led projects, and this paper concludes that groups working at intersecting forms of marginalisation, like migrant women, are not considered as relevant stakeholders for EU’s programmes. At the same time, the EU has not produced disaggregated data by sex, age, ethnicity and migration status, to allow for a thorough assessment of large parts of its budget. This review paper will be launched at the same time as the dialogue session.
