Share-Net Netherlands, SekswerkExpertise and WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform kindly invite you to this upcoming online meeting on Dutch prostitution policy.
Sex work is a hot topic! It is however also a complex, multi-layered issue. How to best tackle this in the policy realm? What should we advocate for, taking the best interest of sex workers in mind? In this session, we will take a look at the Dutch legislation and how it developed over time. How do such policies work out in reality and what alternatives do we have?
Objectives of this meeting:
- attendees will understand the realities of the Dutch legislation
(and the difference to other models)
- to apply this understanding in relation to sex work legislation in
the global context
Language: Dutch and English (Simultaneous interpretation will be
available on Zoom)
Join us for a discussion from different perspectives:
Part 1: A historical recap of sex work policy in the Netherlands (by Jan
Visser, Radboud University and Quirine Lengkeek, SekswerkExpertise)
Part 2: Lived reality from the sector (with contributions from activists and
an escort agency owner)
Part 3: Decriminalisation of sex work: the New Zealand Model (by Joep
Rottier, Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology)
The event will be moderated by Nadia van der Linde (WO=MEN Dutch
Gender Platform) and there will be ample time to address questions from
the audience.
