WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform and Atria in collaboration with Soroptimist International are organizing a series of knowledge sessions to prepare for the 68th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of the United Nations (UN). This next CSW will take place in New York in March 2024.
Why this early start?
EU member states will begin negotiating the EU position for the upcoming CSW as early as October 2023. In recent years, this EU position has proven increasingly important and guiding for the EU delegation's engagement during CSW negotiations. It is therefore important that civil society in the Netherlands starts preparing its priorities and recommendations towards the Dutch (and EU) delegation in a timely manner.
What's the focus?
The theme of the upcoming CSW is:
"Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing from a gender perspective."
