Climate March

On 19 June it is time for the Climate March again! This is badly needed, because the clock is ticking for the climate. Companies and politicians move too slowly towards solutions and their field of vision is too one-sided. Because of this, women and minorities are hit even harder than others by climate change. Intersectional feminist solutions are needed now!

Therefore ActionAid organizes together with Women's March Netherlands the block Feminists for Climate Justice! Other organisations that participate are: Stem op een Vrouw, WO=MEN, WECF and Fossil Free Feminists. We stand for fair solutions, such as climate finance being distributed by the global North as a gift to the global South, not as a loan. We also want women and local communities in the Global South to be at the front of the queue to receive climate finance.

Moreover, women in the Global South already have a lot of practical experience in adapting to and devising solutions for climate change. Therefore, we want them to be an integral part of decision-making and solution processes. We need feminist leadership, not the patriarchal leadership that has led us further into the abyss in recent decades.
