As the Yemeni people are suffering tremendously and the international community pushes for a cease-fire and continuation of the national peace talks, it is of great importance that Yemeni women meaningfully participate in this ´track one´ process.
To enable women in (post-)conflict-affected countries to participate in peace processes, Dutch NAP1325 signatories join forces with local women´s rights, gender justice and peace organizations. A lot of effort is invested to empower grass roots organizations and address the preconditions for women´s active participation in politics, gender sensitive peace processes and so on.
The call between Dutch and Yemeni CSOs aims to explore how Yemeni women can achieve an inclusive peace process, and what the international community can do to support them. The conversation will be an opportunity to learn more about good practices and lessons learned by the NAP 1325 implementing organizations based in Yemen. We will also explore how to strengthen our joint international advocacy and develop recommendations to share with for the Dutch Permanent Mission at the UN and the Dutch ambassador to Yemen, Irma van Dueren.
